Carousel Center
Serious illness is difficult for families no matter what age the patient may be. But when the patient is a child, it seems to affect us all more deeply. Parents, siblings, grandparents, and friends often ask questions like "Why us? Why him? Why not me?" And everyone's main concern is that everything possible is being done to care for the child.
Carousel Center staff offer professional medical care and supportive services to infants and children living with serious illness, and their families. Care is provided to children wherever they reside home, hospital, or other care facility.
PEDIATRIC PALLIATIVE CARE TEAMCarousel Center's Pediatric Palliative Care Team is directed by the child's primary physician and includes nurses, social workers, counselors, chaplains, and volunteers. Carousel Center staff is specially trained in pediatric care and experienced in providing services to children and families. Pediatricians, hospitals, and other healthcare providers often turn to Carousel Centers Palliative Care Team for consultations.

Our Counseling Center provides individual counseling to:
- Any child living with a life-threatening condition and their family members.
- Any adult or child who has been impacted by the loss of a loved one.
CAMP CAROUSEL
Camp Carousel, an annual grief camp, is designed to meet the unique needs of grieving children and adults. A specially trained staff of counselors and volunteers help children and adults learn how to express their grief and develop new skills for coping with their loss. PEDIATRIC COMMUNITY ALLIANCE
The Pediatric Community Alliance is a group of interested individuals and organizations in Forsyth County who are committed to improving the quality of care for infants and children living with a life threatening condition. The Alliance meets on a regular basis and is open to the public.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND EDUCATION
We offer educational workshops and seminars on the above topics to schools, churches, health and mental health professionals, and many other civic and community groups.
CAROUSEL CENTER SERVICES INCLUDE
- Medical and nursing care
- Emotional and spiritual care
- Individual & group counseling for children, parents, siblings, or extended family
- Bereavement care to those touched by the death of a child
- Social support provided by trained volunteers

Carousel Center is an important resource for information on caring for specialized needs of infants, children, and adolescents. In addition to providing medical, emotional, social, and spiritual support to patients and their families, the Carousel Center offers:

- Emotional support to the parent, guardian and patient
- Referrals to community programs
