Volunteer Opportunities
Whether its offering assistance in the office, making a weekly visit to a patients home, or helping with an annual fund-raising activity, volunteers are greatly appreciated and essential to the Hospice team. Training is provided to those interested in any volunteer opportunity.
Hospice & Palliative CareCenter volunteers are students, homemakers, professionals, seniors and retirees who care enough to share their spare time either during the day, in the evening, or on weekends. Volunteers come from all walks of life and represent the cultural diversity of our community.
OFFERING SUPPORT TO PATIENTS AND FAMILIES
Volunteers often visit with patients to read a book or talk while giving caregivers a much-needed break. They may provide transportation to and from doctors appointments, offer spiritual or bereavement support, or simply bake a birthday or anniversary cake to add a smile to a patients day.
ASSISTING THE CAROUSEL CENTER
Volunteers interested in working with children can assist in Hospice's Carousel Center with children's support programs and as counselors at Camp Carousel, a grief camp for children and adults.
PROVIDING ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANCEAdministrative volunteers help with various tasks, such as filing and data entry, in the Hospice & Palliative CareCenter offices or by answering telephones and greeting visitors at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
HELPING WITH SPECIAL EVENTS
Volunteers are vital to the success of Hospice fund-raising events. They may also share their energy and their voice to raise awareness for Hospice by speaking to groups such as local congregations, service clubs and retirement facilities.
We ask that all Hospice & Palliative CareCenter volunteers complete a Volunteer Information Form.
